Punta de Maisí

The place is characterized by a lighthouse, known as La Concha, which dates from 1861 and from where, going up to its 144 steps, you can admire some impressive views. Its construction was authorized by the Queen of Spain and  began the construction of the lighthouse at Punta de Maisi in 1857, under the leadership of the Commander Engineer, Don Mariano Moreno. In the area you can enjoy the magnificent Maisí Terraces. Of the 24 emerged ones, some reach the height of 460 meters above the sea level; while in the underground levels can reach a depth of 180 meters. On cloudless days you will have the chance of sighting Haiti, located 70 kilometer far from Punta de Maisí Top. You can also relax in the best white sand beach that you will find below the lighthouse.

Toa River

The Río Toa, name which means ‘frog’ in indigenous language, is located 10 km Northwest from Baracoa. It is born in the Chuchillas Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa and it flows into the city of Baracoa. The Toa is characterized because it is the widest river in Cuba and where 71 tributaries flow into. With a length of 130 kilometers, it constitutes the habitat of a great number of plants and birds. The watershed of the Toa River occupies around 70% of the Reservation of the Biosphere that takes the name of "Cuchilla del Toa". The values of its biological diversity, the variety of its landscapes, the peculiarity of its ecosystems and the high presence of endemic species in flora and fauna, constitute the refuge and species center oldest of Cuba. Also standing out, it has its depth and its lushy woods which runs through, by what is known as "Cuba’s Amazon". Visitors of all the corners of the world are admitted fascinated by the natural beauties that it stores and the state of conservation of that jewel of the world geography. Fuerte de la Punta

Baracoa's third fortress, Fuerte de la Punta, was built in 1803 on a spit of land over the entrance to the bay. During the pseudorepublic it housed a radio telegraph office. The fortress now contains the Restaurante La Punta.

Playa Blanca

The beautiful Playa Blanca is set up in the suburbs of the city of Baracoa, just two kilometers away from the city. This way, you can enjoy it after a calm walk from the village and crossing the Miel River. The characteristic thing of the charming white sand and crystalline waters beach, is that you have to pay the admission on the control post located in the access to the area, because it is enclosed on the inside of the protected reservation.
